SQL Server 2005 Default Backup Location

Why didn't they put this available through SSMS ?
They have set this at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQLServer\BackupDirectory
